“Putin may well be ready for some kind of cease-fire agreement," @radiofreetom.bsky.social writes. "But if that happens, it won’t be because of Trump’s efforts—and even the president himself seems to know it now.”

It’s sure let the air out of his balloon the matter. Since he can’t chest thump over creating peace he’ll scuttle away and focus on ways to cause more mischief in other countries so he can extort money or property.
Isn’t Senator Tuberville giving the clearest account of the Republican position? He wants Russia to crush Ukraine because that will mean a victory of manly strength over wokeness.
Since Trump’s friendship with Putin did not get the job done, you might have expected Trump to hit Putin hard so Trump could say that he had a positive impact on the resolution of the war. Nope. Trump just tucked his tail between his legs and ran away, leaving Ukraine to fend for itself. Coward.
If that happens then Russia has won and the West has failed at foreign policy again.
Russia must be militarily defeated and there needs to be questions asked as to why Western foreign policy experts can’t get this right.
"Before I even arrive at the Oval Office, shortly after I win the presidency . . . I will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine settled; I'll get it done in 24 hours".
Trump backed off his demand that Russia declare an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine, instead endorsing President Vladimir Putin’s call for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
"Putin, having swatted away Trump’s efforts, will now continue his war and people will continue to die. Perhaps the only positive sign today is that Trump seems to be giving up on American involvement in peace talks...Trump’s retreat could also open the door to renewed sanctions." (Nichols)
Reminder: totalitarianism is the absolute negation of democracy; the latter tries to improve life for all; the former a failed society that liquidates, smashes, jails, murders opposition & calls them subversives; the latter folks are mere opponents in a democracy. J-F Revel, '83. Trump
russians already showed their "readiness to end the war" by denying unconditional ceasefire. They show it every day by continuing waging the war they started. They can end it any day, even in the next minute. rotten orange as always getting played by russians & believes in any shit they tell him.
