As a PC gamer, I will more than likely never build a Linux desktop until I can be assured that any and all software I ever want/will want now and in the future will be NATIVELY compatible, no emulation required. Also my graphics card is NVIDIA, so there is also that problem too.

I'm sorry to say this - but you sound like "a gamer". I.e. someone who bemoans the state of a franchise, but then immediately buys the next release. Someone who puts ethics last on their list of priorities.
Also, i differentiate someone who plays games and someone who "identifies" as "a gamer". It's a stupid "title" and i my experience with people who wield it is not very positive. High degrees of entitlement usually accompanies them.
I can't imagine limiting myself to a single computer because of game support.
