I am setting up Endpoint Privilege Manangement. Is it me, or is the UX really bad? I can right click an EXE to get to the context menu, but not other file types or even shortcuts. Is there no hotkey or cli? Do people actually use this feature in Production? #MSIntune #Microsoft #EPM - ThreadSky

EXE and MSI files do work. My first attempt to edit the hosts file with notepad involved finding notepad.exe in explorer, right click, run elevated, then tediously navigate to the hosts file location, change file type to All Files...works, but clunky as. I'll just tell devs to run cmd.exe elevated

what I hoped for was building a set of 'allowed' tasks (like editing hosts file, for example) to set some guardrails against what they can do without approval. Maybe I can do something with rules, I dunno...

That's right, I've thrown it up a hurry for a pilot, and it just feels a bit half baked. It'll probably get the job done, but it's a lot less easy to use than the old "Run as admin" elevation. But we're already paying for Intune Suite, so it's the only option right now.

Hosts file editing in Windows has always been awful, I know PowerToys has a tool for it
