Feels a lot like they should have held a pre budget conference to get there ducks in order. They had a chance for real change but chose to tow the press line. The press arnt even backing them eother so they are just alienating there support. When reform win labour will only have themselves tk blame.

Honestly don’t think that’s what has happened here. This is a confluence of two things. We know we have an issue with sickness welfare rising disproportionately. And treasury has big holes. Welfare changes were baked into budgets by Tories. Kendall lacks the skill to do something meaningful.

the reason 'sickness welfare is rising disproportionately' is that there was (is) a huge pandemic which disabled a lot of people. that's not the fault of disabled people and it doesn't mean we need less money to live on.

I mean disproportionately compared to everywhere else where there was also a huge pandemic. Ours rose and continues to rise whereas most other places it has been falling. We really need to understand why - first. Cutting people’s pip is only going to make it worse.

I don’t think though our Covid incidence was higher than other places - don’t think that really explains it. My guess is a big cocktail of health issues, public sector cuts and other stuff. But if we don’t understand it we can’t fix it. And can’t fix it by making things worse for sure!

The rise in mental health claims likley quested to why its disproportionately rising. I believe that England Hust wasnt very good at looking after our mental health in the 10 years leading up to the pandemic. Weve crated a generation of people who are conpletely fucked. Tories at fault.
