Murkowski isn't some hero. Not a beacon of moral righteousness. But in relative terms she's one of the only Republicans who would stand up to Trump.

Either Leftists and Union and/or progressive Dems make a much better and more focused case against Trump in 2026 or we are doomed.

I was one of the most anti-Cheney strategy people out there in the run-up to the election. So agree that was incredibly dumb, amoral to support people like her, and counterproductive.

But what people need understand is how many marginal Trump voters are super angry right now about Trump's policies.

There is a large population of voters all over the country who are primed to shift against Trump and MAGA and even Republicans generally if the messaging is right.

These voters are worth a swing of 2 votes against Trump, 1 off him and 1 on to the left.

Just to be clear, what I actually advocate for is an independent Sanders/Union Leader ticket for P/VP and 250 independent union/veteran candidates running in tight districts.

Then in the super safe blue districts we can run left wing candidates under the Dem party like AOC or even leftier than her.

Perfectly possible withgood strategy and some political courage to get 250+ House seats in 2028 and at least flip House in 2026. Not only freeing many working class Trump voters from the propaganda but also cleaning out corpo-Dems on top of that. But really does require precision messaging/strategy.

Her language isn't exactly a profile in courage. I don't trust her. If she's serious, she should switch parties. Do you really believe we will get to an impeachment where her vote will be the deciding one. We're a long way from that, thanks, in part, to her.

Murkowski is not ever going to be a progressive Democrat. She's not currently in a position to cast a crucial vote to achieve any anti-Trump goal. She's not going to be a leader on impeachment or w/e. She saw how many of her fellow anti-Trump Senators lost or quit post 2022.

She's going to keep her head down and wait for a chance but if the chance doesn't come she's not going to take a brave moral stance knowing she'd be Trump's next target.

Maybe if we had 60-62 votes besides her she might speak out. But we aren't there yet as you said.

I actually think it makes a lot of sense to switch. It would reduce the small margin Republicans hold, and since she's holds her seat until 2029, she's safe. It gives dems a better chance to retake the senate. If she truly wants to do something practical, that would be It.

She can stay a Republican and simply vote with Dems for Senate leader. There's not really a rule against that.
