Canada is already in it with big fires and evacs in the thousands. The country looks poised to have large fires on the landscape from now until the snows come. That means Canadian resources will be overextended and not available to help others. Also, probably leads to smoke drifting into the US.

BTW: My roadtrip is my first trip since 2020, and it’s to see my 88-year-old aunt who can’t travel and who is potentially my favourite human on earth.

So the first person who berates me for talking climate/oil & fires & roadtrip will get an earful. I live a walking lifestyle. I’m not the problem.

Don’t feel bad or let people make you feel bad. Two yrs ago I felt a lot of guilt about driving across the country with my kids to TO to see my parents. I wanted them to see the country. For the most part I walk/ride/transit the vast majority of my life.

I was feeling a bit guilty when I saw a fire near a highway to my happy place- Waskesieu ( Prince Albert National Park) and was worried it might prevent me from going there. Our boreal forest north of here is a treasure.

Yeah, I refuse to believe we're all the problem and we never stood a chance.

I walk and cycle and bus everywhere. If I need a car, I use a car share.

I guarantee you the world would be different if everyone lived that lifetstyle. The odd trip isn't the problem.

It's every day choices that are.

This is a problem that has occurred in my lifetime and can absolutely be controlled by legislation and choices.
