But I bet, the sentence is gonna be "very simple" because #DonaldFuckingTrump always get away with everything, including rape and murder!!! He is guilty of the lives loss on Jan.06.
Justices Thomas, Gorsuch, Alito & Kavanaugh would have granted the stay.
If Chief Justice Roberts & Justice Barrett were shamed into denying the stay by the horrific beating their reputations have taken among legal mandarins since Trump v. US, I will feel like I've been useful.
As far as I am concerned, they still got it wrong. This should have been a jurisdictional, rule of law denial, not "unconditional discharges don't matter."
In a binary situation, by the slimmest of margins, SCOTUS did the right thing.
It also vindicates Justice Merchan's decision to pre-announce that the sentence would be "unconditional release". I have no doubt that there would have been 6 votes for a stay, in the absence of that announcement.
I lost all respect for the Trump-6 on SCOTUS when they issued Trump v. US. I understand that you "want to be able to think better of SCOTUS", but I think that would be delusional.

Or, you know... someone realized this'd be a great way to look good for the Supreme Court, and Trump knows it doesn't matter anyway.
