I could accept if these profiles are people who don't know they're following me, but I've been here almost a year, I post FREQUENTLY, and I respond when someone engages. The fact that all of that is missed by the vast majority of my followers makes no sense

If not bots, the only thing that makes sense to me is my follower list is filled with people who support that I'm pursuing a dream, but have no interest in the game I'm making... Which might actually be the worst.

Yeh it’s really sad. The internet is rapidly fragmenting itself. But I think a lot of users on bluesky have “like” fatigue because they are somewhat counter culture. I could be mistaken. I also think those that play games are busy consuming them, not spending time here.

That makes good sense. I can see how at this point in the age of social media, people aren't about dropping likes to signal a creator that their content was seen anymore. There is just too much out there now

I imagine I probably started following you through a starter pack, and I don't think I've really seen you pop up on my following feed, but that is part of the risk of so many gamedevs being in starterpacks nowadays I guess.

FWIW, I definitely experience the same minimal interactions despite a decent amount of followers. I try not to tie that to my projects' worth. Most of my projects I do for me, because they're fun to do. I think that's probably an alright mindset to have.

Relating to someone's struggles is always worth💚 I started this project to pursue my dream of making a game for the sake of making one instead of only playing them, but I got caught up in the hope for success. Here was the first time I got any attention too, it went to my head immediately and I got into that sort of professional mindset "gotta keep the ball rolling!" sort of thing, but I've found that honestly just being a normal person and interacting with folks has been a lot better for engagement.

It's still a struggle reeling myself back and making sure I don't go down that mindset again, but I've talked to a bunch in the gamedev community now and have found that the best of them truly do appreciate just talking to other devs casually. Those are the people I wanna gather together for sure!
