Considering it took somewhere like a third of the time this planet can even sustain life to get from single cell organisms to multicellular life, and even that took five botched attempts before it caught on, and then another third to get to us, maybe we should be more respectful to those rocks.
The stated number of planets may be low. Estimates of the number of stars in the MW vary from 200B to 400B. Hard to tell from inside.
And scientists say it is now well established that there are more planets than stars. 🤓
To be fair, the way the expansion of the universe works, we are indeed at the center of the observable universe. It's just that every other spot in the universe is at the (or rather: a) center, too.
“Every passing hour brings the Solar System forty three thousand miles closer to Globular Cluster M13 in Hercules — and still there are some misfits who insist that there is no such thing as progress.”
The closer you come to wrapping your head around these facts the closer you are to realizing there’s no way we’re alone in the universe. I love letting go of the petty BS this life can dish out and let my mind wander thinking about what else is out there.
No good reason to think a sane holder of proof would tell 8 billion warmongering reality denying conspiracy theorists with rockets and nukes. Denial is strong, but understanding is endlessly patient. Wait for whatever sign you wish, we’ll point to statistical likelihoods until then.
Maybe we are the last intelligence left and all the billions of others have already died off or become immortal omnipotent omniscient energy creatures existing in hyperspace outside of time and space.
When you realize that a sun and a star are the same thing, but the nomenclature really just reflects our proximity and the causes from that, then the night sky can look a lot different to your imagination. I used to see stars, but now I just see suns, and wonder what goes on in those solar systems.

Here's for hoping for some gravitational lensing into a star system with multiple planets of various kinds.
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth! 😎
