However! You are still encouraged to shop at local and small businesses, and you can, of course, still buy medicine, food and emergency supplies.

Right?! But having one particular day also gives people something to focus on. Then do another particular day. And another. Practice makes perfect. But also one day boycotts, if everyone actually participates instead of bitching about it, has an immediate impact. It's *our* power of the purse.

This is what gets on my nerves. Every time folks try to do something, there are the people chiming in to say “you’re doing it wrong, it’s not enough, do it like this instead.” Maybe just STFU? Or be like, “hey, great! If you want to keep this going, here are more ways to help!” Ya know?

It’s so frustrating because I’ve seen the same people ask why nobody is doing anything while the most they do is complain from home, and this isn’t something they can do? Also maybe the point of doing it for a day is learning you can do it more often than not and discovering local alternatives.
