im not religious btw lmao but i love when stories explore themes of repentance. in western media its almost always an individualistic antihero story (guy did bad thing, guy must repent), but in trigun its more nuanced and explores how to repent for things "larger" than the actions of one guy - ThreadSky

ugh im no good w words but i think abt the way NT never shies away from showing truly terrible humans (eg: legatos backstory), its not cut and dry good v evil, very much wanting to ask the question "who truly has a point here, knives or vash" and also showing the consequences of holding either view

i am nodding a lot to all of this! it ends up leaving room for the reader too, in a lot of different ways, to see and engage with that sincere vision. it doesnt feel cordoned off the way a "perfect" story/world can

It’s a very character-driven and character-exploratory story, which are always my personal favorites!! Feels like the world building is really only there so long as it’s in service to the characters, and after that it doesn’t matter as much bc it really isn’t the point of the story
