i've moved my physical merch sales to my ko-fi because bandcamp holds the money for a few days. it's so much nicer being able to actually recieve money and get to work on making the thing immediately
I think there's an interesting issue worth discussing. Why don't people have the money to support artists? Is it because everything is too expensive and jobs pay too little, or is it just a matter of people not bothering to click a link? Maybe a survey could help shed some light on it or something.
I always wondered if I should send money out to an artist or not, since I've never done it before, but your post convinced me to send 5 bucks to a cool artist I like: @lechlewds.bsky.social
He's a supportive little imp who does great work. I feel better now, so thank you for the push.
I really want to support the people who i like, but sadly international currency transfer has restrictions, and most people don't wanna be associated with crypto...
Maybe off topic, but what would make me and tons of other people use Patreon more is if the content was available on your TV. They really need a TV app. All that content blocked on youtube on TV, that's big money to be made! I told Patreon too.
Also, comment if they're an AO3 author. Please. I have a one shot with over 1,100 hits and only four comment threads.
I'm not entitled to comments etc but that's a rate of one comment for every 275 hits.
The main/only reason one of my longfics is going is because it has a regular commenter.
The next best thing (and free) is consistent comments! On certain sites, comments are like gold and can help work so, so much. Fans don't realize how much power they have in that regard!
For sure, the main/only reason I'm still adding to chapters to my longfic is because one exceedingly kind individual is commenting on every chapter.
Those chapters probably wouldn't exist (or at least wouldn't have been added to the published work) without them.
So many of my clients are my fellow creatives that sometimes I worry our entire ecosystem is just all of us swapping the same cash back and forth with each other and the entire monetary supply is only increased thanks to that one Furry who pays everyone to draw giant Falco and Fox fucking buildings.
I want to point out that if you feel like you donβt have the budget for all your favorite artists - try having a set amount and divide it up by all the ones you support.
There's also a site called Buy Me a Coffee that I use! It's very similar to Ko-fi, and I think it can accept more than just PayPal, but I'm not sure yet since I just started using it because I haven't gotten much money from Ko-fi! Unfortunately, it's not as easy as it's made out to be.
Legit! And if it itβs not facially supporting them please just share our work our videos our art, helps us break the curse of algorithms and help our work be seen
For me; my Justforfans pays for all the equipment and expenses. Very rarely I make a tiny profit (which goes back into getting a new toy) but it does allow me to keep making content without using my pitiful salary which would mean id get to meet a lot less lovely people from the community
as a creator myself YES!!! More than any other time these times are rough and you all should support your fav creators.
It may be the difference for them to dedicate to this or not!
(I don't have means for u guys to support me for now so I am not asking for myself, I am asking for everyone else!!!)
I want to reopen my Ko-Fi, but I'm scared that I will continue getting USD$0.00 per month.
How much does it take to actually start having paid supporters? Because I don't know what's it like.
Toma tiempo pero trabajar en tu estilo, tu identidad como artista se hace mΓ‘s reconocible y poco a poco llegan los clientes. Yo suelo ganar en Kofi pero tmb hay temporadas bajas π₯²
Itβs really hard to push for monetary support online. I try to let people know I have it at the local conventions I sell at. Just keep promoting your work!

I'm not in a position to financially support artist monetary...
Reposting shop links though is the next best thing I can think ofππ»
and maybe a follow or two. Ya know?
Even $1 a month is helpful!

I'm doing ONE thing wrong, but I don't know what.
This is so very important.
If I were born w wealth I would have made an epic patron of the Arts.
