I'm with you on local elections being moot at this point, tho I expect a low turnout to be a thing they'd paint over, with everyone who didn't go magically voting for GD in the end.
Its most likely already rigged that way, so why pretend everything is normal when it clearly isn't?

I think it would be a big mistake not to participate. It's not abt fairness etc, it's about contesting the political space & GD legitimacy, it's one of the (many) battles that should be fought.
Of course we should respect anyone who sits this out but risk is they'll fade into irrelevance.

If they were free and fair elections, I'd agree with you.
We're looking at muscovite elections though.
They'll get their "86%" and not bother counting.
Not much to contest there, IMO.

they will NOT be free & fair. That is all priced in.

It's about *relentlessly* hammering GD on their negligence & corruption, which is locally visible on every street corner.

One prong of resisting effectively, it's not abt sitting down w nice table manners. (And yes, other stuff 100% needed.)

Yesterday, the families of regime prisoners met with opposition to hear about their vision for the future months. The families wanted a guarantee that opposition parties would not participate in the scheduled local elections in October if nothing changes for the better, politically, until then. 2/
