I know we talk a lot about performative allyship that isn't backed up by any meaningful action and that's valid but I have to admit that I appreciate every single person who's still flying a pride flag on their home right now

this is apropos of simply seeing a pride flag on my walk by the way it is not a response to anything that is or isn't happening or being discussed outside of that haha
In the current social climate, performative allyship can be powerful. I’m grateful for people who keep it up even when it’s no longer popular or safe to do so.
Same. I'm in a pretty gay neighborhood so they're ubiquitous but before I moved here I genuinely appreciated walking around around June and seeing them all up
Yeah, I hate to say it, but "performative" activism as was a big pet peeve a few years ago basically doesn't exist anymore because with acceptance being both "not trendy" and "subject to targeting by the US government", even the most frivolous stuff is kinda huge.
