As someone who has trouble reading facial expressions as part of my autism I find alt text that says what the person on the picture's facial expressions are helpful

I'm a little bothered by the "I don't know any vision impaired people therefore they don't exist" logic.

It's also worth noting that Bluesky indexes alt-text. So adding it makes your content more discoverable.

Omg, yes, the tiny text on most screenshots is awful. If folks alt-text it, I can read it at the size I've already told my browser to show me things in, instead of squinting till my face hurts.

And I'm only "expensive glasses" myopic, not anywhere near the difficulty some folks have w/ vision.

I get painful headaches and even nausea inducing migraines from reading text on light backgrounds. Alt text obeys dark mode settings, allowing me to read the text content of screenshots which would otherwise trigger that reaction.
