It has been poorly advertised as a romcom. It is *not* a romcom; it is much more of a romantic drama. Going in with that framing will help your experience watching MUCH more (because I watched it thinking it was a romcom).

I follow a movie reviewer youtuber and he was super disappointed that it wasn't a good romcom when the marketing was showing romcom editing... most people will enjoy it but if you were anticipating something else, you'd be really disappointed

It isn't really interested in being a romcom, though, so criticizing it for that feels off track. I say that as someone who didn't particularly like it and has lots of thoughts about why it doesn't work.
