I used to call it "grocery list" but since that video, I've switched to "list of crap I was convinced by endless advertising bombardment to buy, even though I definitely don't need most of this stuff at all". It's longer, but at least I'm not using any of those old fashioned words anymore ;)

We say "go to the grocery store," "go grocery shopping," or sometimes "make groceries." I'm in the deep south. "Groceries" is not an archaic word.

In NYC we go to the deli, bodega, or corner store. For large stores we might just say “going to the store” or name the store, “going to Whole Foods”, “…to Fairway”, “…to Zabars”, etc. No one says “grocery store”.

Trump is a New Yorker, but the biggest factor is he has never bought his own food.

He keeps calling groceries an antiquated term. It's so bizarre. And even stranger, none of the pundits or interviewers call him on it. They keep acting like that's perfectly normal. It's such a huge contrast from how the first Bush was called out for his reaction to a cash register.
