It's eyewateringly expensive - and there's no alternative because we can't care for mum at home. Not without moving to a bigger house & caring for her 24/7, although I recognise that many carers have no alternative due to the costs. 😕😕😕😕

I think he brought along a list of "stock" answers and just regurgitated them. I wanted to hear about plans to cap what people have to pay, especially with dementia care, but obviously there are none.... It is so stressful seeing money disappearing so very fast.

Indeed they are. My late dad saved + invested carefully to ensure his family + grandchildren would have a level of security in life & old age. He would be horrified & heartbroken to see his money + the proceeds of mum's home being eaten up at a rate of knots leaving the rest of us with nothing.
