A Wealth Tax on the ultra rich is sorely needed but I don't like the name.

Voters understand property taxes so a "Billionaire Property Tax" is a better sell.

It doesn't need to be explained, seems fair since the small folk pay it, and isn't a scary new type of tax.

There is the answer, put the value of the stock options on a W2. Make it a taxable benefit. Income on a W2 cannot be hidden - like Bezos using Amazon’s yacht. Make it a taxable benefit and he can live on it if he wants to. Simplify the tax code.

Stop re-assessing property taxes due to inflation. We don't pay a wealth tax when our 401k values rise until we sell our stock. Why should homeowners pay a wealth tax for increased property values? Re-assess property tax after the prop sold then maintain that same tax amount until it sells again.

0.1-3 percent is functionally zero, the top tax bracket is 37 percent. that's why your previous screenshot was a non sequitur, the top 1 percent as a whole pay so much in tax because almost none of them have billions in assets

It’s not functionally zero. It’s in fact quite a bit as evidenced by the share of tax burden across income brackets. You can argue (as I have in the past) they should pay *more* but this myth that rich people skate by paying nothing while the average joe gets soaked simply isn’t true
