If there's a risk that Trent, Quansah/Gomez, Elliott, Kelleher, and Morton leave, I'd assume that'd mean we'd need to bring in quite a few home-grown players to replace them (not necessarily the same positions). Will be a challenge and could be expensive.

Hope so. Weve been on a bit of a high wire act since Gomez got injured with Konate's record although this season it has improved massively. Been watching a bit of Bajcetic lately in La Liga. Playing CB and doing well. Good cover option

Agree with absolutely all of that but think the last line might be slightly wrong, would assume they want to change 'two' of Diaz, Nuñez, Jota.

Can see Diaz staying but would be surprised if both Nuñez & Jota are still here in August. Jota looks like a West Ham signing to me :)

Yes. That was always a chance, however slim or nasty we think about it. We’ll see, but if we did go down that route, it’ll be brutal next season, IMO. No creativity in either half, no goal scorer, no leadership in defence. Good luck getting that all in place in one summer.

Doak seems to have all the potential in the world and still young, and while the figures on loan aren’t astronomical the game time is vital. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with him and much of that probably rests on the Salah contract.

Curious why you see Chiesa staying, seems there's no confidence from Slot considering Cody was clearly not fit to come on v. PSG but Chiesa stayed on the bench.

Also not familiar with Doak's thigh injury &/or how that might play into him moving along after surgery. Agree Morton will go.

I'd love to see it, I like Chiesa's nose for the goal and he just pounds the ball when he shoots!

I'm just not seeing any inclination by the coach to do anything with him, especially with only 9 games left in the Prem, and considering he's got a pretty set starting 11-14. 😮‍💨

Slot certainly hasn't shown the inclination so far, but considering title likely to be wrapped up in next 4 or 5 games, there really isn't any reason not to give him minutes from here on out. Honestly, its the least he deserves for his attitude all season.

Would seem so, but without knowing what's going on in training or otherwise, all I have to go on is what Slot's shown so far. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I loved Chiesa's attitude when he arrived and he's seemed so eager to celebrate the wins & goals and such all season. We'll see!

Mainly a financial thing. He cost £10m. On a 4 year contract that works out at £2.5m/yr (not including wages, of course). So you potentially have a cheap 6th choice international-level attacker for cup games. I'm also factoring in this season for acclimatisation. A gamble, sure, but a cheap one.

Eh, that's fair. I don't wade too much into financials & contracts, I don't know how all that works. 😂 Seems cheap, but (rhetorically) what's the cost of having that person when you could move them on & maybe get someone the manager really likes? It's hard to say considering how guarded Slot is. 😄

I think the cost depends on who else goes. If we replace Nunez and Jota, along with 3 defenders it might be too much churn to get rid of Chiesa (and Diaz/Salah) as well.

Agree with Elliott being the 6th attacker/midfielder which helps his game time. Have a feeling Nunez and Diaz are both off which makes the remodelling of attack look a bit of a bigger job.

They will only be both off if someone pays the fee. Diaz seemingly has his heart set on Barcelona. I think what happens there is he does one more year and then only has a year left and Barca can then afford him.
