Honestly, I've never used an ARM Windows machine but from what I know, I think most things run pretty well. Supposedly the Prism emulator is pretty good and pretty seamless.
But, like I said, I've never used it and I'm not an expert by any stretch...
My understanding is that there are some growing pain just like the m1 Mac. Some program won’t work and some will. Just gotta do some research to see if the programs you have will work on them. The webcams on these laptops are apparently amazing compared to most other laptops.
Sounds like a decent path forward. Microsoft historically had more issues getting people to transition. Apple is like my way or highway and they tend to get developers onboard.
Yeah I would like to try a windows arm laptop at some point. There’s some thing I don’t like about Macs that I mitigated somewhat with third party programs. I might make the jump if my Mac ever dies. Honestly my biggest issue right now is Apple charges a huge premium for better storage.
That’s better than before. 1000GB ssds are less than $100 and 2TB are hovering pretty close to $120-$130. I wouldn’t have an issue with it if I could add in extra storage on my own.
that's my problem with Apple...if I buy a laptop I want upgradability. I'd consider Framework but they are still really expensive. But they now have a RISC-V mainboard option...
Oh it’s definitely expensive. I’m just glad Apple finally decided to get off the 8GB train and made all the base models 16GB now. I’m also so glad the ports are back. I was super tempted for a while to go for a base m4 pro
2. …developers to move to new platforms. I mean, they’ve only done it 3 times in the past (680x0 to PowerPC to Intel to Apple Silicon) with minimal disruption each time.
The fact Microsoft had an 8 year head start and couldn’t get developers to take ARM seriously is mind-boggling.

I thought they, historically, charged a lot more to upgrade... That's not that unreasonable of a markup.
But it’s probably still worth it for me, but yeah shit’s expensive.
Windows RT came out 8 years before Apple M1. Yet Mac support for native ARM software completely eclipses Windows.
Apple has always had success getting…
