You have to admit the new models are quite competent in a lot of areas, multimodality... They can have their fail modes but they are much better at writing, coding and problem solving.

I wonder how much of this is due to operational optimizations— like theyre using a smaller/faster network to pre-scan for common queries, so it gives the wrong answer until you tell it to look closely

So in theory better models/compute obviate the need for “hacks”
