Although aloth and eder are definitely up there among my favourites, in the first game more than the second, I think just because while I love having them in 2, it does feel like their stories were kinda completed in 1
It is interesting, because the simplest choice of all is missing in Avowed. There is just something artificial in writing for a protagonist who has no choice but to have a relationship with a companion, because you cannot go forth alone, when this lack of choice is not acknowledged in dialogues.
downside is having to deal with him for the first 3 zones; what makes for a well-written character in a vacuum means that in a gameplay sense you gotta drag around a whiner

(Not that romance is bad, love is one of those things that makes almost any story hit harder but the amine crowd always gets weird with it)
