Per my Googling, there is an existing H5N1 vaccine for humans, and some is (for the moment) stockpiled by the US government.

However, a new mRNA vax was only given clearance to begin its first trials in the US a month ago.

So no, we're not in good shape, but we're not starting from total scratch.

That said, we're way behind where we need to be in case a strain mutates to jump between humans. As the article states, there's no known human-to-human transmission yet.
