These days, if you read any book at all, it’s probably banned somewhere in the U.S.The book I most recently finished, The Nickel Boys, by Colson Whitehead (outstanding!), was, sure enough, banned in Nashville.
Just goes to show you that there are no real standards for banning. It's just who makes a fuss and goes through the steps.
A women near me challenged 100+ books in the public library. I think she craved attention (or had a corncob up her ass). I believe all the bans were overturned.
The only reason I could come up with as to why The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon might be banned was the lack of Christian Fundamentalism when King spoke of “God”. 🤷🏼♀️ but you’re right. No reasoning for what is banned.
I see why this book was banned.
