I have slightly changed my mind thanks to Deepseek and Mistral. Mistral in particular is good at finding sources for certain work that Google or other search engines just don't seem to bother with any more (and Mistral credits sources) Of course, they're wildly overhyped. - ThreadSky

from what ive seen, its genuinely the only use case scenario that ive seen people bring up - trawling through a lot of data/sources and providing which of them specifically has it

just, it is usually required to be proprietary/company specific info to make sense

I know people on the factory floor who may have poor literacy skills or English not as first language have used to help with CVs/covering letters, but that's not really an issue for me.

What is popular at my work are meeting transcription and translation services, where we have Hungarian, Puerto Rican/Cost Rican, UK/US and Koreans on the same call. May not be perfect, but is decent enough.
