Thanks for this Interesting piece; it brings up many issues. I have spent a lot of time in NYC HS ELA classrooms - one thing is certain, we need to get rid of AP courses in the humanities. At the same time, non-AP lit courses here are too often single-issue focussed, and reading an entire book rare.
