Sadly, that's true. The poor often suffer the worst. Do what you can to prepare. Stop buying non-necessities and pre-purchase as much as you can of the ABSOLUTE necessities to survive.
This is where people simply don't get it. Do you think that most of us haven't been doing this for months!?!?
Non-necessities?
Oh, thank you so much for your advice. Without your wisdom, i never would have thought of that.
No need to be snarky. Yes, if you have been doing this for months, you have figured it out.
But there are folks who assume they are too poor to do ANYTHING AT ALL; folks who have NOT figured it out and think if they don't have $3K discretionary available all at once, they might as well not bother
I am sympathetic that the less financial resources one has, the HARDER it is to hedge against coming financial shocks...even when you can see them coming. The wealthiest ALWAYS come out okay. The poor suffer and lose what little they have.
Get in touch with your local pantry. I'm trying to organize so I can donate extra I grow to them. Communities need to rally together and pitch in wherever possible.
This is where local community comes in. We are going to need each other and I know the "extra" I buy will benefit others. I have several elders in my life I know will need help especially when SS goes down.
My pantry is stocked well now. Since the felon is gutting the community food service, from now on I am going to purchase extra and give to local food bank. Whenever I shop at Costco, I can get one extra if I have some money. I think that is as a community we should consider doing it.
I’m not poor but live in LA, and I’m poor enough to not be able to afford a big place. I can’t stock up much either.
Also, not sure it matters. I expect to have to leave the country before too long.

Thank you though!
