It seems that among this perhaps the most quant oriented group of the field, the social stratification researchers of RC28, sociological theory is currently taking massive leaps forward. The group that is so often considered as the most unimaginative number crunchers by other sociologists.

On the other hand, I have not heard anyone mentioning Durkheim, Weber, Marx or Bourdieu that usually is a requirement of “theory” in sociology
Adam Smith used the word 'education' EIGHTY Times in Wealth of Nations. He wrote "read write and ACCOUNT" FIVE times. The "Invisible Hand" can be counted on ONE Finger in 1100 pages.
