this is why you need materialism to really understand what's going on right now. It's one thing to do a classic When Prophecy Fails to imagine that Trump is sending all the pedos to jail when he does nothing. But you can't do that when you lose all your money

That means a lot, thank you. I’ve been trying to put language to what so many of us have felt since this all started: that the collapse won’t just be political, it’ll be emotional, relational, existential.

i am increasingly dubious that they will grapple with that — the cognitive dissonance will be tough but they will never doubt their convictions. just like i doubt anyone in this admin will ever face any consequences for their actions, i doubt any trump cultists will ever concede they were mistaken.
