Yeah PT had me doing all that, as well as tons of hip stuff. Did not help at all. The arch support was like a switch going off and suddenly it was fine.
Body weight is plenty for these eccentric calf exercises. Concentric calf raises are a different exercise with a different goal and I agree, heavy weight is good. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4527202/
What arch supports did you get? I’m bouncing between Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis now after having dealt with a stress fracture and sprained ankle that seems to have screwed up my gait… kinda sucks
Mate, great suggestion. Ran a 5k today (very slowly!) but no pain at all… would have been inconceivable a week ago, was uncomfortable walking… Thank you!
I haven’t gone inserts yet but switched from Nike -> Hoka -> Brooks and each times been an upgrade, can run 3-4x a week with Brooks and not have debilitating Achilles and arch pain
yeah my hips crack all the time but they're really strong so idk. i do have a bad left knee (screwed it up playing tennis >15 years ago and never got it properly fixed)
Seeing a PT or chiropractor who specializes in running can help, but you have to find someone who knows what they're doing. They can do a gait analysis and pinpoint areas to work on.
Too many years ago my running times plateaued with sore feet. Dr advised steroid injections... His nurse was a runner and took me aside: 'Go see a Podiatrist instead'. 5km dropped from 20m to under 15 overnight and 30m off nxt marathon. Can't recommend specialist advice highly enough!
Checks out. Can verify that you can add 4:05 to your 5K time by gaining 15 lbs after biking in toe shoes, tearing your plantar fascia & requiring 6 weeks of rest.

Me too, exactly. Jogging on the beach every morning cured a lot more than just my plantar, back in the day.
Sadly I don’t normally have one available.
