A big difference between LBJ and most of the present Senate Democrats is he'd had to scam, cajole, and hustle his way to his seat and they have not. -OS

The Democratic DNA now is a party of people who believe in the system, play by the rules, play well within the rules, and you'll get ahead. There's lots of good things about it, it's a product of the world the Trumans and LBJs made. But it doesn't make Trumans and LBJs. -OS
In a way, it matches the Baby Boomers and Gen Xers being a product of the world the Greatest Generation made, but it doesn't make another Greatest Generation.
yeah LBJ was not far removed from the time where the party would bring you behind the shed if you couldn't win. Lovable losers do not last long in leadership.
People often opine about returning to when politics was "boring." What we need is a return to when it was brutal and cutthroat. It would at least breed a win-at-all-costs attitude.
