Japanese businesses are generally harder for American companies to buy out due to certain rules. They are more susceptible to the whims of the Japanese government. And Japan is pretty nationalistic.
At this point I think the only thing keeping TNA from being bought up is to avoid anti-monopoly stuff. If Trump gives them the go ahead they'll gobble up every single American brand not owned by TK before Trump is out of office.
This isn’t my expertise but the government would basically have to be able to prove that WWE is so large that it makes it too difficult for competitors to survive or new competitors to come into the market.
This is what I was fearing with the whole ID stuff, only somehow even worse than I originally feared. They want a monopoly again by just buying out everyone.
that's exactly what they're doing. much like everything else, it's been coming for a long time, people sounded the alarm and were told they were being crazy.
Indeed. They don't want to be forced to innovate, so they'll just buy out all their competition and put out the same old boring nonsense. You just hope that AEW keeps their alliances as strong as possible so nothing gets lost there.
the library alone is what makes it worth buying, but no way they'll keep it running. noah is very likely to be sold, abema has marufuji there representing them as a "field reporter"
eh, i don't know so much about that considering half the talent on there were AEW/ROH. i'd argue that partnering with AEW would help their growth more.
All Japan really wanted that use of Dempsey to turn into a partnership. So them, Noah because of Abema and Marigold will create the Japan division while all the ID places will be their feeder indies. Smallman will probably drag Progress/Hustle (Scala's new place) for UK.
Yeah they're just stripping the carcass of that place and then they will probably buy it because why? A vast chunk of early tna folk are now working AEW and they'd happily buy the video library out of spite alone, just so AEW can't use it in video packages.
They want to have control over majority of wrestling industry, it'll be easy for them to sign any talent form those companies & will have priority over others in the industry. It's nothing illegal just shows the monopoly ambitions they always have. We should be more thankful for alternative we have.
They want to try and strangle paths to AEW/ROH too, any new up and comers, shove them on an id contract. But they don't see them as competition at all, apparently.
AEW definitely should start their own development academy, bc the pool of talent to sign will be pretty small, in coming years, bc WWE clearly wants to have everything they can get under their control.

Aiming to put a strain on the AEW/CMLL relationship
NOAH or AJPW will possibly suffer the same fate
The 1980s of it all is infuriating, no one wants a monopoly anymore, except them
It’s why it’s more important than ever to support your local wrestling shows!
I’m so glad Rev Pro refused WWE and I hope they continue to deny that relationship
