I went coast to coast by train
The station in Austin, capital of Texas, is a one-room building with bare dirt 'platforms' & the train attendants put out a little step
And 2 tracks are on the same side so you have to go over to the car park & scramble down a little hill to get to the far one

I don't think enough of America knew how dilapidated their country already looked to immigrants before this mess. Detroit was refreshing to visit because people wanted to have an honest conversation about it.
