Also Robert Smalls is more deserving of being depicted on screen than virtually any American in our history and the fact that he has not been so is a disgrace.
They should have done all those things. The south should have been obliterated from history and replaced with a dozen free black states rebuilt on the shallow graves of slavers. We have hindsight enough to know that not utterly destroying the Confederacy was a mistake.
Isn't that sort of the punch line of the whole thing? The masters deserve to have these incredible tortures done and their graves danced upon, and yet we believe these people will be more magnanimous than that (because all they ask is freedom and to not be sabotaged at every turn).
