I am a former client of Wilmer, Hale...great lawyers and wonderful people. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-notch counsel. And most important, I am very happy that they are fighting back as that is the ONLY strategy that works.
What would be helpful is some insight into how this unfolds, written for the layperson. What are the steps thus suit will go through? How long will it take? If it goes to the Supreme Court and is enforced, how can anyone believe Trump’s goons will actually abide by it? What happens if they don’t?
I can't imagine that these law firms and individual lawyers can't sue Trump individually for (huge) civil damages. Trump is stating his reasons, detailing his personal motive for trying to destroy each of the firms, and saying that that's his goal.
First, though, a petition for declaratory judgment that Trump's actions are personal and on behalf of himself as a private party - and that no immunity of any kind attaches to him individually.
I recall that you actually sorta called this, both times. In the first case, I was hopeful but didn't share your optimism. In the second case, because of the first case, I gratefully expected you were right.
THIS too: Hugely important, and illustrates what I'll note yet again: GOP-appointed justices and judges who'd never held a political appointment in a GOP WH or DOJ *aren't* automatically FedSoc *movement* crusaders.
Donald J. Trump has taken another joyride through the Constitution, and this time, he’s run over the rule of law, reversed over due process, and parked right on the chest of free speech. Please share and repost thanks. https://aiwillybillhuman.substack.com/p/executive-order-404-democracy-not
It would be really hilarious if Trump ordered Paul, Weiss to defend the government pro bono. Especially if he told them they had to show up at court wearing MAGA hats.
in fact, here in #Michigan #Democrats give hundreds of millions $$ to companies like @fordmotorsofficial.bsky.social and #DanGilbert and @generalmotors.bsky.social for "jobs"
and if these firms go out of business because the #GOP puts them out, jobs are lost.
The depth of dishonor of the current POTUS, VP and minions has no bottom. A stain on their honor, their families, their party, their communities and our nation. What does it say about us that we elected a convicted felon with a lifetime record of dishonor, bankruptcies and failed relationships. sad!
Good news. I was getting a little worried. Yes, many more law firms should join in. I know nothing about law stuff, but I don't know how they could lose.
This is such great news Joyce. I hope it just keeps going and keeps going and keep keeps going. We have to all stand together whether we lawyers farmers. Retirees teachers people with young children. We have to all stick together for America.
I believe if all the major law firms joined together, that alone could create an incredible headache for MAGA. The lawyers within those firms are not ambulance chasers.
Excellent. But also-to be fair, they'll have no income and no jobs if they don't fight back. The alternative is they agree to provide millions in free services to the govt and wave goodbye to actual paying clients.
First he discredited the media. Now he’s targeting the courts. Trump’s strategy isn’t new — it’s just bolder, louder, and backed by executive power. If you think judicial independence is safe, read this. Then ask yourself: what happens when no one says no?
When he got out of prosecution the very first time and was not held accountable, it set DT on the road we see now. He believes he is invincible because he has been allowed to behave that way.
This is good news a law firm that is not caving to the Trump Administration. Why don't all of big Law Firms go in on a Lords of London insurance policy to cover legal costs associated with fighting off the Trump Administrations legal threats.

This is an attempt in part to blackball people whom the GOP doesn't like. It's supposed to be illegal.
Those same states could also give legal business to those law firms to help supplement the cost of these lawsuits.
and if these firms go out of business because the #GOP puts them out, jobs are lost.
its a case of direct subsidies.
As they keep attacking the courts, that other pesky branch, the Judicial Branch of our government… FAFO.
It’s time for 47 to read the Constitution.
As President Eisenhower said, “…they are stupid.”
Stand up to a bully
YES!
All firms/lawyers should be joining together to fight this authoritarian nonsense.
