Jake Broe put together a very good YouTube video arguing why Putin will never use a nuke. E.g., Putin would have to "pick his favourite bunker and stay in there forever".

I think everyone involved in decision making in regard to the Ukraine war is waiting 60 days to begin making a "deal" with President-elect Trump. But, today's geopolitical climate suggests no one really knows what Putin may choose to do.
He would need to be in the bunker on his own because anyone else with him would have had their families wiped out because of the old weaklings ego. Might get awkward.
