I may be very jaded but it seems like whenever things go from bad to worse in Palestine we see more of these posts which are (in my eyes) thin moral self-justification for looking away from genocide and passively accepting helplessness in its wake.

I’m going to say this as nicely as I can. Sending money to people in Gaza to buy expensive food from smugglers is not ideal, but the alternative is letting people starve to death. It really is that simple.

but what you give when you give money to Gazans is life.
A $300 bag of flour is hours, days of LIFE. Sunrises, sunsets. Breathing. Another chance to still be here when this is all over.
What is that worth?
If we could force Israel and the IDF to do what we want them to do, we would not have this problem.
Even if it is expensive, even if the money goes to the wrong people — no matter what.
I would want to live.
