The saddest part is if they paid the same percentage of their wealth in tax as I do annually we could easily afford free healthcare and their lifestyle wouldn’t appreciably change. At that level it’s just an obsession with collecting resources.
There is no such thing as an ethical billionaire.
Billionaires have all accumulated their wealth from the labours of others, and by using their wealth to manipulate governments, politicians, law enforcement, and even the military to maintain and grow their wealth at the expense of society.
Some of these villains [cough Walmart] not only underpay their workers but help them fill out welfare forms so we the taxpayers make up for their meager paycheck.
And your employees have to rely on snap and medicaid to survive which will be cut for your tax break fuck you hope someone lije luigi sneaks into your house
They are worthless excuses for people who do allll of that + then vote to strip marginalized communities from healthcare, safety net services, & human rights.
Yes, and that’s not all…these workers are so poorly paid that they have to depend on snap, and other programs to survive and the taxpayers have to to subsidize them, it’s a win win for the corporations this is why they don’t raise the minimum wage, that’s how billionaires become multi billionaires
It's so frustrating to argue with people who think capitalism is the only way, because I get it - in theory, you could have a fair system where everyone gets paid! What fun! But every time that doesn't happen, people go hungry. It isn't worth it just because sometimes it's ok of we're all nice
Letting people become billionaires was a stupid idea. Everyone know $$ corrupt society. Easily predictable that a handful of super rich people would get power hungry and want to rule the world. Story ends up badly for … us. Duh 🤦🏻♀️
a villain, but also a slave owner. Wage slavery keeps people trapped, no way to improve their lives. Often not able to tread water to keep from drowning. Many homeless people have jobs, but cannot afford rent. So they live out of their cars.
Then you tell your house wage-slaves that it's the outdoors wage-slaves' fault you have to beat them and vice-versa and you never have to confess to being the bad guy.
Then you complain to the papers about lack of civility as you feed evermore of your slavery money into the two slave factions’ counterbalancing propaganda machines that never mention you by name
Having a job where you are one step above starvation is not absurd. 60 % of the American people are one paycheck away from poverty. At least slaves were fed and housed, poverty that is built into a capitalist system is not far from slavery.
And also just generally being wealth hoarders, parasites and their whole fascist deal, and nazi deal, and support for violence in order to fulfill either their ideological views, or their class interests.
Greed - You just never know when you might need an extra billion or two (no shades of gray)
Philanthropy - I have enough billions; I don't think I need any more (this one is a matter of degree)
The representation we charged with maintaining OUR ECONOMY has consistently failed us for decades
WE helped them through political partisanship and apathy
A functional nation wouldn't need to fight villians, they wouldn't be able to STEAL FROM US in the first place
“John Steinbeck once said that socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”
― Ronald Wright, A Short History of Progress
Maybe we're getting closer to a critical mass of voters ready to commit to more rational and balanced politics and economy. It really isn't left vs right. It's the 0.01% controlling more wealth than the bottom 70%. We're all better off with wealth & power more broadly distributed.
I think we all need to think about good and evil based on the impacts of the action instead of direct and obvious impact. Luigi Mangione, for example, killed a man that caused untold suffering that was never going to change his ways. Unfortunately, that was overall a good action IMO.
He was going to use a bomb, but then thought about innocent bystanders.
That forethought alone makes him better than many politicians currently running things.
No one begrudges wealthy people being wealthy, but the amount of wealth they're sucking out of the economy is simply astounding. And they're more than willing to leave the rest of us starving and living in squalor. THAT's why they're villains.
I wouldn't have a problem with the wealthy, if it wasn't for the bottom of the pile being so abject. That and the sheer deference the wealthy get for being loaded.
no one's mad at doctors that make 300k a year, people are mad at the shareholders that make millions while the people that work under them are living check-to-check.
the difference between being "well-off" and "rich" is that the rich dont work to make their money.
It’s worse than that.
They use their paper shares as collateral to purchase real estate, get loans etc… that way they don’t ever pay tax.
Middle class need to take loans out on their 401k’s rather than a withdrawal in retirement. Paying 7% interest is cheaper than 45% income tax. I’m simplifying
They love to blame the people who take the jobs. They say things like "well just get a better job then," or "it's the free market," like every multinational conglomerate doesn't do this. Like actual starvation is better? Morons.
DOGE was brought in with the sole purpose of killing the necessary middle class government jobs to make room for totally unnecessary billionaire tax cuts. The rich gets richer and Americans suffer.
If you work for a 50 billion dollar company, and your work earns your office the most money in the state, and you don’t qualify for a one bedroom apartment; the benefits don’t outweigh the cons.
Bezos, Zuckerberg & musk are multi billionaires BECAUSE they are steal from their employees by paying zero to little taxes & denying their employees right to form unions for decent fair wages, work hrs, benefits befitting huge profits made
thanks to their labor It's about justice & fair play
don't confuse gross with net. Yes, Taylor has made a handsome profit from her tours and her music, but most of the billions that she raked in went to expense like venue rentals, equipment purchase and rentals, staff, dancers, musicians, etc.
Whelp. The only known rich friend of Jesus was a tax collecting fraudster, but he gave all the people he stole from all his money. So, I'm in good company. I've never met one who didn't think they were superior to others due to their wealth. Not many can handle wealth.
Exactly. This isn’t cartoon villainy—it’s structural.
When hoarding is rewarded and care is optional, cruelty isn’t a side effect—it’s a business model.
We don’t need to invent villains.
We just need to stop calling them visionaries.
There are Supervillains, I'd like to point out, who at least took care of their grunts well. To become a billionaire, one *Must* abuse people. Being a billionaire, is almost per se evidence of wrongdoing.
Listen no one is "vilifying" rich people. They ARE villains. If you run a billion dollar company, give yourself millions in dollars and benefits, but pay your individual workers less than a living wage and give them shitty insurance, what are you if not a villain?
The same folks who tip pathetically (and before tax, if at all), haggle with people for services and goods who are just trying to get by, and spew phrases like “lift themselves up by their bootstraps”. Because their privilege, among other things, gives them outsized confidence and narrow mindedness
The elites got all confused when we started glorifying the hero Luigi. It's because heroes slay villains. When more villains are slain, more heroes will emerge.
I saw this in the store yesterday and thought I had hallucinated it at first.
Who thought it was a good name for a protein shake? Who?
It’s people, ffs.
Agree, I had a company we ran as if everyone owned it. When the years were good they profited when the years were bad we all lose.
When they entered the company they were asked as to how many shares they wished to purchase which came out of their salary. Those in the company eventually owned it.
I seem to recall an old story with a similar theme. It took place during Christmas time, and the main character was both the antagonist and protagonist. He was told by some otherworldly apparitions that if he didn't change his ways, he'd die very soon and all alone.
I watched a thing about MC Hammer how he made millions than lost it. He was asked if he would have done anything differently. He said 'No. My friends mom was dying of cancer. Was i supposed to tell him I couldn't afford paying for her trestment?"
A lot of conditional "IF" in this statement, sounds like a rich democrat. Wealth is not the problem stewardship is, this is a class struggle and the weight is in the people.
Mate, demorats are also neo-libruhl fiends, they're evil. Idk what you expect me to call people who supported fascist paracos, and who will always choose fascism over loosing their wealth. I don't care if the rich POS belongs to the blue, i still hate him for being a rich wealth hoarder
I guess it is the idea of "wealth hoarder" that sticks for me. Fiat currency is not wealth, paper, silver, gold or wood. The service our labor represents is wealth. currency is like block chain, only sand that connects production.
Naw bro. It’s clear as day. There’s no “if.” Hoarding more money than you could spend in your lifetime then working to hire more is evil when you do so on the necks of everyone else.

We will overthrow it, but at a tremendous cost.
Very common in the rural South.

Things got better, tho’, hence Travels with Charlie.
He died in 1968, just before federal tax policy began to make that observation true again.
The culture war is just a creation to distract from the class war.
Newish (recycled) CEO of Starbucks (from Chipotle)
If you divide his Annual, he is paid $58,000 per hour 🤬🤮💩

That’s why we can’t have Medicare for all even though the vast majority want it.
The billionaires won’t let us because they want the control.

We, the People, have been had, scammed, bamboozled, given a big of magic beans, …
5x max.
That applies to celebrities, sports players and owners, and stockholders.
But we also really need to reassess how we pay lots of jobs.

I had someone shame me for saying fake NY NJ Dems are demons
What is a demon but someone pretending to be a public servant who is just an actor working for the ultra wealthy

You would reach more people, when you add a good description into the Alt-text field.
That is pretty easy, especially, when your image just contain text.
This way, you support visually impaired people and everyone else, who rely on a good filled Alt-text.
