the only way to approach a remake of akira that does the original justice is to: keep it 2d animation, hire the best studios available like last time, split the story into 2 or more movies, and offer katsuhiro otomo full creative control

This is the only acceptable way to do it.
It makes me sad to think we may never again see animation done like the old OVAs. the material conditions just dont exist for that kind of wild and experimental animation.

I'm okay with 3 episodes per year as long as the animation is legit quality.
Computers ruined what could have been an Otomo classic (also, the dub was absolute dogshit)
If whatever studio doesn't want it to flop HARD, they're gonna have to go above and beyond.
Honestly, modern Gundam has shown the glaring flaws in computer aided 2D animation. The hyper-consistency is an express trip to the uncanny valley.
