the rise of ever-better AI deep fakes is really validating my choice both to stay on text based media and my passionate hatred of being filmed or photographed, I gotta say

I feel like Facebook was the turning point for it; I remember growing up and being introduced to the internet with the two eternal rules of "do not post your real name and do not post pictures of your face".
And then along came Facebook with "TELL US YOUR NAME AND SHOW US YOUR LIFE HERE!"
I *briefly* set up a FB page to access a college club webpage ages ago; didn't post anything, didn't even use my real name for it...and they proceeded to nuke my account for "falsified identity"
i try to stay out of photos as much as possible, and when i'm going into a situation where i know photos are a ritual (holiday get-togethers, birthday parties) i've made a point to wear the same shirt and hat every time, for like a decade, as a running joke... and nobody has picked up on it, yet.
i halfway got the idea from a paul bettany interview, where he said that one way he fucked with paparazzi was to always wear the same outfit when traveling, so that all their pictures looked like old shit...
I got deep into film photography over the past few years and while it's not the only reason, the idea of having a physical negative for all my photos feels like a thing I am increasingly happy about.

the day the robots can write at length like me and not just with adjacent vibes, I might have to pack it in
People will need to talk face to face (if we are to trust anything)
It will become interesting and probably better long term
And then along came Facebook with "TELL US YOUR NAME AND SHOW US YOUR LIFE HERE!"
They still tried to stop me from leaving. Meta is so evil.
like don't you want people to see the distinction between your product's work and real life?
