Prior to the advent of modern medicine (and vaccines specifically) childbearing was a numbers game. You made as many babies as you could and hoped some of them survived to adulthood, before you died in childbirth.

America seems to be set on getting back there and enforcing eugenics through poverty.

As I have said on many occasions, the only people who would need a socially enforced eugenics program, are those already failing at natural selection. It doesn't even make sense to argue that a "superior" people would need to work so hard to thrive, unless you also reject the theory of evolution.

Maybe, I don't know, I don't pay very much attention to the numbers. The people I follow are (with very few exceptions) just people I'd want to hang out with if geography were no issue. The majority of the people who follow me are probably bots I've not had time to research and block.
