I called Labcorp 3 times today for a STAT pickup. On the 3rd call, I learned they didn't have anyone scheduled and were looking for someone to pick up the specimen. I decided to drive it there myself. Someone finally showed up more than 2 hours after my first call. #Healthcare - ThreadSky

Long ago when desperate for work I considered applying with them although I'm not sure I would've been able to convince them to hire me based on my experience.

If you have a phlebotomy license, you can usually get a job with them.

I don't know what would go into getting a license. I got some sort of certificate after going through some one-day (if that?) training after which I started doing blood draws for research.

Certificate is what I meant, and It sounds like you have a phlebotomy certificate. I had to get mine in nursing school.

As someone who works in LTACs and nursing homes, I'm not surprised. Stat x-rays apparently means within the next 2-3 business days, and stat labs means some time within the next 24 to 48 hours. Naturally we scoff regularly about how calling it "stat" is a joke.

That is completely unacceptable. The quality of health care is rapidly declining because of corporate greed. I dread what it will be in 10 - 20 years.
