No. It’s good it was cancelled. Subjecting animals to that, anesthetized or not, and then killing them just so some humans can avoid colostomy bags is gross. Would you feel the same way if they used dogs?

I have 5 cats. I love cats. I draw the line on medical ethics at the virtue of the goal and the methods taken to limit harm. I think this study is virtuous and is designed to limit harm.
Fair enough. Animal experiments are a complex moral issue that can be argued from both sides, at least when it is done for medical innovation. The question of “is it worth it?” is subjective. I want to believe humans are clever enough to find other ways that are more humane.
Agreed that it's a tough subject, but animal study-based research has almost certainly saved millions of lives (human AND animal). I don't think anyone working with these animals takes their sacrifices lightly.
