The effects of average global temperature rise were known AT LEAST 45 years ago, because that was what I was taught in the early 80s at university. As someone who lives in a northern city, where winters can be -40C and summers +40C, I'd say the heat is doing exactly as predicted, e.g., forest fires.

With all due respect, Senator, you are misrepresenting the IMF’s numbers. Except for $3 billion in tax breaks to the FF industry, all the rest of its $757 billion estimate are undertaxed externalities related to fossil fuel CONSUMPTION. They would be just as large if the USA imported all its fuel.

Moreover, of that $754 billion in externalities, $324 billion are what the IMF calls “vehicle externalities” — namely, traffic congestion and accidents. Those are not specific to propulsion energy and would be just as large if all vehicles on U.S. roads were electrically powered EVs.
