I’m going to agree with all of these save for Thor. It took what was a really emotional setup of Jane struggling with her cancer and being Thor which was actively making it worse, and the responsibility to protect others a and made it into a comedy. Jane deserved better.

Yeah they looked at Ragnarok (another movie that was made into a comedy despite the mass destruction) and dialed the comedy up to 11.

The Marvels was a pretty fun movie, I loved the first fight sequence.

Jane got to adventure, to be goofy, have thunder magic, punch a god-killer, save a bunch of kids and become a valkyrie (probably?), theres already two whole movies of her doing melodramatics, i think it was fine 😗

I’m not saying it was fine. But the comic it’s based on is a favorite of mine and I feel there was a lot of character development and depth that was left on the cutting room floor that could have made the movie not just good but great. Again don’t hate it. Just that I feel it has so much potential.

it is better to consider adaptations as their own works rather than to completely tie them to their inspirations, for example i appreciate MCU Gorr the God Butcher cause hes very human and i appreciate comicbook Gorr the God Butcher cause he was building a godbomb

Yeah I prefer people to do their own spin on characters. Also not everything adapts well. I also found enjoyment with the movie but I’ve also only watched it once.
