There is literally no way they could have been carrying a meaningful amount of food to alleviate Gaza's food supply issues on the ship they were on, so this was first and foremost always a predictable act of, essentially, civil disobedience on an international scale. Getting arrested was the plan.

The thing that would most likely end the current fighting would be the release of the Israeli hostages. If Ms Thunberg can accomplish that, she'll have made an invaluable contribution to the resolution of this horrible situt'n & earned a great deal of credibility&praise. I wish her all luck in that.

I get the distinct impression that Greta Thunberg is more popular *outside* of Sweden than in it, and/or that her star was waning (before or after?) when she decided to go from primarily climate justice to primarily Palestine with a climate justice veneer.

Not so much "waning" as "completely extinguished." And it wasn't even the Gaza War; it was *maybe* the Ukraine War forcing people to think about the economic tradeoffs from more expensive oil and gas and drop the moral scolding, but even in late 2021 her star power was less than it was in 2019-20.

The green movement in Europe has in general adapted really poorly to having to drop the moral scolding and talk about economics and growth, despite having had a head start over everyone else in supporting Ukraine and opposing Putin.
