- Linked Steam or Blizzard Accounts with similar names, but NO social accounts.
- Display name match, but the account name is inaccurate, i.e., 9psyche

Best you can do is start grabbing the user ids and publicly posting them. Scammers can change the account and display names but cannot change their user ids.
One of the few guides that discord has about this feature. It should be more publicly accessible tbh
As a server owner/moderator, you have the most access to information to sus out fakes.
(It has resulted in a couple of mistaken bans, but those people reached out.)
a fleshtuber minecraft player just happens to be in a vtuber server sending people friend invites while streaming themself playing a game? not a chance.
Most of the actual accounts have their streaming platform(s) of choice linked to their accounts directly, in full badge display with a verified connection (Even bluesky has one).
Dopplegangers often just have said links pasted on their discord bio pretending to do so instead.
I have a panel in my Twitch description warning people, pinned post here, remind people in my Discord server but I can't think what else to do.
They do not have the current focus nor do they want to crack down on fake user numbers (specifically those that create impersonator accounts or to scam). Doing so would hurt the IPO.
still wild it doesn't really get better.
If you are a Twitch Partner, you likely have an impersonator on discord.
If the user doesn’t have their twitch channel set, it’s highly likely not them.
If you find one, feel free to send it via:
It has kept scammers at bay for the majority of servers.
Seeing these every other day now across the communities I help out. It used to be mostly art scammers but looks like some moved to this scam. I use my own bot/app to crossban them faster.
