Wait, I am confused. Millennials are the only generation that grew up with this. In my experience they are (at least to the highest degree of any generation) the ones who know this.
Hah well I can’t really know about the younger millennials. The advent of web based productivity tools that are not based in file systems happened when I was a young adult, and a mere five year gap means you might have been doing high school assignments in google docs.
I get the deep point that we've really just replaced one abstraction (folders) with another abstraction (search). But I've yet to see a coherent project workflow based on the latter.
It'd be interesting to show people a fully kitted out file manager like dolphin and see what they make of it. They'd probably have some questions. I know I said, "Why is DozeNT 3.51's file manager so much better than macOS 8's?" on first seeing and using it in 1994.
Daily #DayRuiner: not only are millennials not kids, *zoomers* aren’t really kids anymore, and gen A is already over — the first gen beta kids are being born as we speak 🙃

(not sure this is actually accurate, but the abstraction layer above file structure is remarkable now!)
Talk about child abuse

I used to read the MSDOS 5.0 manual for fun.
