Goes to show that the american white christian zealots and the south african white christian zealots are one and the same, TERRORISTS! spreading hatred while waving a cross. May the earth open up and swallow the lot of them. May they burn down to a crisp in hell.
Private schools have the ability to acquire the funding they need through their exorbitant tuition costs. They do not need, nor deserve tax dollars. This is not a Christian nation, it is a nation where you can be Christian if you choose. The government has no right to force a religion on anyone.
They will, anyway. As we have been shown, the only power the courts have is if the ruling is actually followed. This so-called law & order party only follows the laws they agree with.
Wow this will work, just like all the others have worked π, hilarious why even waste the time doing it when absolutely no enforcement will follow for Trump not abiding it
According to the above comments, it wasn't integrity, but a conflict on MONEY. The same won't hold the next time this swings back around, if they're willing to break the Constitution just like Trump.
for the people that like to shove the constitution in the rest of the worlds faces trying to make out they are somehow superior they sure don't want to follow it
Well.. only half of them. One did not vote. It could go back with all 9 Justices and I'm not hopeful because the one vote that could decide it all is from Amy Handmaid Comey Barret.
SCOTUS is untrustworthy. They could flip and bend to Trump's will at any given moment. As long as Trump is president, nothing is certain, except his ego.
Maybe if that lunatic superintendent tries to do that shit somebody will press charges against him and finally kicked that lunatic motherfucker out. Talk about a nutcase holy fuck that man is fucking lunatic.
And they reached this Constitutional-on-its-face decision but splitting 4-4, with ACB having recused herself, and thus letting the state Supreme Court's 'yeah-- no' decision stand. Pretty weak, as a reason to celebrate, but at least not a win for theocracy.
Yet, OK will still launch the schools and nothing will come of it. The SCOTUS does not have any ability to enforce their ruling on the state of OK. The GOP has no respect for the rule of law.
Congress is controlled by the GOP, so yes, they will give the OK schools the funds. The MAGAs in Congress also have no respect for the SCOTUS and the rule of law.
Apparently half the Supreme Court has read the Constitution where there is separation of church and State, and the other half have not read the Constitution, or refuse to acknowledge it.
If the Supreme Court ties, resulting in a 4-4 decision, the lower court's ruling stands, but no new national precedent is set. So good news that they won, but bad news that the issue is not resolved.
And theyβre gonna get it wrong big time just like they said they approved a slavery. They approved that the red state had a right to have slaves that caused the spark that caused the civil war. What do you think the next oneβs gonna be? Iβm taking bets.
By a hair. If Coney-Barrett didn't have strong, secure ethics this would have gone the wrong way, like so much else.
I disagree with her on some fundamental things - a woman's control of her own body first among them - but when it comes to ethics Coney-Barrett is a model.
why would the christian schools want to take that heathen tax money. ask the pope, I hear he needs some good PR before the bad stuff comes out about him.
This 4-4 split portends a different outcome but for the Barrett recusal. State sponsored religious schools are in our future as soon as another case is brought with Barrett participating. I have no legal background and am not all that smart, but thatβs my read.
I hate to be THAT person, but didnβt they also say to bring back Abrego Garcia? Seems like the SCOTUS doesnβt really hold any power anymore. If the ππ€‘ doesnβt follow what they say, it really doesnβt matter. π
Todayβs political environment is enough to scare a citizen to death! The way this govt spends our tax payer money is asinine! We need a revamp of the benefits the congress gets. No lifetime anything!
They tied which just means the lower court ruling stands. It's just lucky that the lower court ruled against this. It will come up to SCOTUS again and Amy Coney Barrett won't recuse herself next time makin the future ruling 5-4 in favor of gov't $ funding religious charter schools. ACB recused
herself in this OK case because Notre Dame lawyers were involved in this particular suit & she has a relationship with Notre Dame. When the next suit comes though without any Notre Dame involvement she can then vote in favor of your tax dollars funding religious charter schools.
Not exactly - they were split evenly, so it was a non- decision that automatically defers to Oklahoma Supreme Court which said NO. The state Supreme Court has more sense than the Supremes. I doubt they favor presidential immunity. SCOTUS is a fucking disaster and arm of the Vatican.

Well, that one one maybe, unless they start standing up to Trump...
Donβt get comfy! They didnβt make a decision. They were tied so for now itβs a no go until a similar case comes up and no one has to recuse themselves and then all 9 can make an actual ruling.
Just look at countries that do not separate Church and State, such as Iran, Afghanistan and many of the gulf states that are ruled by Kings. When separation of Church and State is lost, so is democracy.
We have charter schools here, but as far as I know - and I taught in the public school system - ALL of our charter schools were secular. School choice is giving (mostly rich) parents a voucher so they can opt-out of public school and send their kid to a private school, paid for by OUR tax dollars.
Their schools were already 49th in the nation. I grew up there and got out as soon as I could. I hope people have long since realized the lie of βoh but people there are really nice.β That is no more true there than anywhere else in fact, if youβre a woman AVOID Oklahoma if you possibly can.
I can recall having to sit through prayers EVERY CLASS EVERY DAY in public jr high, from a church none of us belonged to (we were Jewish, Greek Orthodox, Catholic, Native American, Atheist, traditional Protestant). The PTA & ACLU sued and ...
2/2 ... won; later the "Lemon Test" (SCOTUS, 1971) was used to stop these indoctrination attempts (my opinion). The same group tried violating the order periodically but were told they couldn pray all they wanted outside school grounds, so we could get our full 50 mins of class instruction.

4 Justices voted to approve it π
Taxpayer funded religion? No.
thereβs gotta be some well trained veterans who want to save our country
call it a militia, except donβt
Predatory in a few senses.
Seems iffy much of the time and it shouldnβt.
Thank SECULARISM and Freedom of religion, ALSO being recognized as the necessity of freedom FROM religion!
Seriously when is the USA going to wake the fuck up!
And the candor of the news you deliver.

I thank her god for her.

They didn't make a decision either way
Which means the OKSC ruling stands... and *they* said no to state religious schools....
Not ONE state has successfully implemented it.
Texas forced it onto Texans.
AZ went billions in the hole because of it.
They leave out lower income families and rural folks.
The oligarchy is in full swing.
Are charter schools the same as school choice, or am I mixing them up?
We have charter schools in OR too.
While that makes this a win SCOTUS still is not to be trusted
Iβm sure theyβll take another run at it and, next time, Barrett might not recuse herself and decide do what Trump paid her to do.
Next time it comes up they will ok it.

Oklahoma State School Superintendent Ryan Walters.
He's dying to get to DC and decided he'd get there by kissing up to TFG so loudly and so obviously that he HAS to get noticed.
He's the one who tried to buy 55,000 Trump Bibles for the classrooms, remember? To the tune of $6 million.
